Chopin – Nocturne in F Minor Op. 55, No.1

Who’s the Genius?

Schumann vs Chopin

Chopin composed Nocturne in F Minor Op. 55, No. 1 in 1842 whereas Schumann composed it in 1849 and published it in 1850. Chopin was a great admirer of John Field. His nocturnes were inspired by Field’s song-like melody structure in the right hand and the extensive use of pedals. Classical composers like Mozart, Italian and French opera arias were his inspirations too. He in turn inspired many others like Brahms, Wagner, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Liszt.
