Life in the United Kingdom

The United kingdom has a reputation for world-class research and higher education degrees and qualifications are highly recognised by employers and academics worldwide. In 2018/19 there were 485,600 overseas students studying at UK universities; 20% of the total student population, 54% of full-time taught postgraduates and 49% of full-time research degree students. 143,000 were from the EU and 343,000 from elsewhere.

It is important to note that the UK ranks in the top 30 of the list of costly countries to live in the world and the costliest cities in increasing order are London, Brighton, Reading, Cambridge, Bristol, Oxford, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, York and Manchester. The average rent per month in the UK for a one-bedroom flat is around £758 (~$1000 USD) per month if you’re in the city; £614 (~$810 USD) if you’re outside of the city. It may be more if your energy costs are included in the rent.

Another downside is the weather which many people think is depressing.
