Free Music Education in the United States of America
Curtis Institute Of Music
The Curtis Institute of Music is a private conservatory in Philadelphia that offers courses of study leading to a performance diploma for post-secondary-school students, Bachelor of Music, which takes 3 to 5 years, the Professional Studies Certificate; and post-baccalaureate Diploma and Master of Music tracks, which may be completed in 2 to 3 years. It is among the most selective institutes of higher education in the world. The acceptance ratio at Curtis Institute of Music was 3.93%. (687 students applied and 27 were admitted to the school.) Based on the rate, it is extremely hard to get into the school. After all, it is ranked second among all the top music conservatories in the world. Its alumni include musicians such as Leonard Bernstein and Lang Lang.
Curtis provides full-tuition scholarships to all of its students (including international students) and sets no minimum age for the admission of exceptional students to most of its programs. Applicants are required to write a stellar essay and a letter of recommendation.

Colburn School of Music
The Colburn Conservatory of Music was created in 2003 with a unique all-scholarship model, attracting the highest level of talent from around the world. Each student is admitted on the basis of talent and potential alone, and given full scholarship for tuition, room, and board. Conservatory students graduate debt-free and ready to embark on professional careers. (Please note there are other payments even though it is tuition-free. ) The school offers its students more than 300 performance opportunities every year, many of which are free to the public.
Colburn does not offer music composition or electronic music program; however, its faculties for strings, winds, percussion, and brass are second to none. There are three academic units: the Colburn Conservatory of Music which offers rigorous performance training to college-aged musicians; the Colburn Music Academy provides a conservatory-style experience for extraordinary pre-college musicians; and the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts offers open enrollment classes in instrumental music and voice for students of all ages and skill levels.

The Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) is a school dedicated to providing free higher education to aspiring opera singers. Even though there is no tuition fee, students need to take note of other compulsory expenses.
